Casey Jones, You'd Better Watch Your Speed

I saw Festival Express on Saturday night and I can't post anything that could possibly do it justice. If I were made of money, I'd go see it again and again. I would buy it, if i had a vcr...oh a dvd player i suppose. I love rock and roll movies. I can't get enough. I could watch them over and over again. I do. I shall continue to. I'm trying to remember what my first rock movie really was. i think it might have been Rattle and Hum. Shit, i loved that movie. I remember watching it with my brother with all the curtains drawn in the den, and the volume up loud. It was AWESOME. I've seen that one a few times, and I'd love to see it again. I love those VH1 behind the music specials and stuff, there's that great one with Willie Nelson on his bus - that rocked. I'll never tire of Almost Famous, although it doesn't fall in the same category as The Last Waltz or Eat the Document, Don't Look Back, Renaldo & Clara etc etc etc etc etc.... That is where Festival Express is. The poster does not do it justice. This is just incredible footage of mind blowing musical experiences....i just can't explain how great it was. And I have work to do. So, ta.

catch up

oh yeah and a bunch of other stuff happened this week too. i hung out at the mullet for a while with the matrix. ash crashed here for a couple of nights and we barely saw each other, but it was still cool having her here and chatting in the wee hours, and breakfast feasts with the inevitable coffee hits. they got a lot of work done in just a few days up there, and it's exciting! i love the mullet sessions, they are always kooky and educational. charles runs a great ship. i had a great time.

last night we had a little shindig for aggie over at joanna's (the yellow bordello!). It was fun, we had pizza and drank copious amounts of wine, and beck crashed here last night. she inspired me to get up early and do my spanish homework (which, as it turns out, could have actually waited until monday...i should have known that was coming!).

tonight the revolving door is still and the lights are low. and i will bid you adieu. saludos. shit, i really have a tough time coming up with witty or even mildly tangible endings to these things.

oh i am really diggin' this dylan book i am reading right now about the recording of one of my landmark bob records. it's really good. so i went out and bought a new bob book yesterday. on my visa. even though i have no money and essentially no income. hah ah ahha haa.

see ya.

CUFF THE DUKE!!!

Cuff the Duke is playing at Stage 9 on Saturday! Finally!

http://www.cufftheduke.com

blast off.

my doc martens are definitely the boots I should have been wearing to work for the past two weeks. i can't believe the decrease in pain as a result of testing them out tonight. i still love my job. it seems to energize me. kind of strange. i do tend to panic a little about not going fast enough, and not packing the bags "well" or "properly". i was pissed tonight because somebody who worked the lane before me took a traveller's cheque & did not get it signed. Well, the girl from upstairs (these are the really important girls, the ones who get to work upstairs....) she came down to do a "pick up". haha. a pick up is when they take a bunch of money and stuff out of your till so it doesn't get too full. so she did the pick up (she doesn't get to carry the goods upstairs though, despite her authority, they are put into a blue plastic tube, and "tubed" upstairs. for those of you who are like "wha?", tubing systems were used back in the day to move things through large buildings (like hospitals). You put whatever you want to send (generally documents or whatever) into a tube, and you put the tube into this pipe, and punch in where you want it to go and it zooms off! it is sucked or pushed by air through the ducts (I can't remember exactly). it's really neat). In any case, when chickie did the pickup, she was like "oh uh, this traveller's cheque isn't signed". and then she went away. so i'm like "great, she thinks i'm a moron and i'm never going to make more than minimum wage. oh shit what kind of tomato is this...."

anyway. my feet aren't pounding in my ears and my bones dont crunch when i walk like they did after work on wednesday, and i am crediting the docs. Of course. I should have known....bouncing soles n' all.

Okay, a quick catch up. because i have been not returning emails & phone calls, i'm sorry, i'm sorry, i literally do NOT have TIME..... it's very weird and i am not used to it and i am still trying to figure out a good routine or a system or something, as of now i have been using the tested and true "chaotic freak out mode" and it is not proving to be that effective. so next week (haha) i should have my shit together.

now as for that Beastie Boys thing... as if i could really just leave it at that. i'm going to the show, it's on on on. i got the plane ticket yesterday.

i love my tatoo.

happy birthday stacy. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

ps: still searching for Ian Dunn, I.M. Dunn, Ian Michael Dunn, where ARE you!?!?!! Ensign Brown, you are required on the poop deck!

Scratch That

Ixnay on the B-Boys, I have a psych test the next morning and my prof is adament about sticking to the rules. Well, I signed up for this gig, so I can't really complain. It all seemed a little too good to be true.

Time Time Time Time....running short! Nothing of import to say, and much of import to do.

The Biz vs The Nuge

HOLY CRAP!

In keeping with my bi-annual tradition of leaving town for my birthday, it gives me much pleasure to tell all y'all that I am going to see the BEASTIE BOYS on my 30th birthday. Sometimes life just seems pretty cool. Wow. WOO HOO.

Peace, as says my new body art. I can't wait for you to see it. I love it.

Joely was great so great really great at the Marquee on Friday night. It has been a while since I jumped into the middle of a throng of sweaty college students (of which I am one, so it still seems appropriate)...but oh my what fun.

Am procrastinating. Should be doing homework. Will go do some.

Apologies to those I have been neglecting in the way of returning email/phone calls etc. There are not enough hours in the day.

Hasta luego.

Pass the Peppermint Foot Lotion Please

Today I watched a video on effective bagging.

Grocery bagging, that is. Hopefully this video, combined with the DVD entitled "I Can Do That!", will make me the best darned cashier I can be, showing up at my lane 5 minutes before my scheduled shift, and remembering to wipe down my lane at closing. Don't forget under the roller belt! Whether or not I can actually ring in an item remains to be seen, but I guess that is just an aside in the whole "our job is selling!" mentality. It's like a cult version of the office. Why isn't there a Dilbert for working in major chain retail?

Anyway. My bones hurt. Not sure if this is because of the cancer, or the sheer amount of literal running around I have done in the past week. The thought that I might not sleep late before next Saturday almost frightens me a little. Of course, if I were reading textbooks right now instead of writing blog entries, then maybe a decent night of rest would come to me.

Oh and just a little "FYI" for those of you who may like to reach me by telephone. During study time, I will have the phone turned off. Therefore, no answer does not mean "not home". Oh wait, I guess that is pretty much my M.O. in the first place. Forget I mentioned it.

ta.

Missing People

I was walking up South Park Street today and I saw the apartment at the corner of Clyde where Adam Copas used to live. Then, around the corner on Spring Garden, who should drive by but Simon. I had my eye on the Volvo when I saw it coming down the street. It had a look...I was immediately certain that I would see a familiar face behind the wheel. Simon was the last person I expected. I haven't seen him since Adam died and leaning through the passenger window in the middle of the street trying to avoid his dog's tongue did not seem like the appropriate time to offer condolences. I feel really bad about the way I didn't handle Adam's death. I should have gone to his funeral. I am not sure why I didn't, but I feel really bad and embarrassed about my absence.

IAN DUNN. Ian Ian Ian where are you? I want to talk to you! Ensign Brown, report for duty.

CARLOS you have not responded to my email. Did you forget our rule? Where are you? Please tell me.

GForce you are remarkably silent. Are you on the road? Here's thinking of you.

I miss you guys.
